Staff need somewhere decent to make lunch. It sounds simple, but a well-fitted lunchroom makes a practical difference to the working day — and a poorly fitted one quickly becomes a problem. This project was a full kitchenette fit-out for an office lunchroom, completed by Magri Cabinets with a focus on functionality, ease of cleaning, and a finish that holds up in everyday commercial use.
The Brief — Functional and Ready to Use
The client needed a lunchroom kitchenette that workers could actually use — somewhere to store food, prepare meals, and keep things organised during the day. The space needed to be practical first, with a clean finish that wouldn't look worn after a few months of daily use. There was no brief for anything elaborate, just well-made cabinetry that works.
Materials and Finish
The cabinetry was finished in Polytec Stone Grey Matt — a neutral, low-maintenance finish that suits industrial and commercial environments well. It doesn't show marks easily, cleans up quickly, and maintains a consistent look over time. Paired with an Angora Oak Woodmatt laminated benchtop, the combination gives the space a clean, grounded feel without being stark.
The benchtop finish is warm enough to take the edge off the grey cabinetry while still being practical — laminate stands up to daily use in ways that require minimal upkeep from staff or management.
Layout and Storage
The layout was designed around what workers actually need in a lunchroom: bench space for preparation, storage for food and equipment, and a setup that keeps things tidy without constant effort. Overhead and under-bench cabinetry gives the space enough storage to function properly without cluttering the room.
Everything was built to measure, so there was no wasted space and no gap-filling with off-the-shelf additions. The finished kitchenette fits the room as though it was always meant to be there.
Design, Manufacture, and Installation
As with all Magri Cabinets projects, this fit-out was handled end to end — site measure, design, manufacture in our workshop, and installation. Working directly with the client throughout meant the finished result matched the brief without surprises. The installation was completed with minimal disruption to the working environment.
